Thank you for inquiring into Transitions Counselling Services. My name is Sherri Wright, Owner and sole therapist of Transitions Counselling Services. I have been working with Children and youth, families, and Adults since 1992. I possess a Masters in Counselling Psychology, and undergraduate degree in Psychology, and am a Registered Social Worker with the Alberta College of Social Workers. Transitions Counselling Services has been operating since 2009 and continues to thrive.
My professional experience is varied and diverse; I have been fortunate in that employers have offered challenging, professional growth enhancing roles and experiences. I have chosen to focus my ongoing professional development and counselling practice in work with children, youth and parents, individual counselling (children, youth and adults) and group work. I describe the work I do as a combination of counselling (therapy), coaching, and consulting based on the unique needs and requests of the individuals I work with. I believe in and am committed to lifelong learning in my professional and personal world. Updated, relevant and best practices in my profession are in continuous motion and evolving. Change is always occurring; it is a part of our existence. My best hope is that those I collaborate with in the counselling and change process will experience a renewed sense of hope, optimism, and belief in their ability to meet challenges, problems, stressors, and changes in ways that are manageable, useful and meaningful for them.
When I am not working with clients, I spend my time with my family, our family pets and cherished friends. I am passionate about most anything outdoors. I believe volunteering and giving back to our community is important & promotes my "pay it forward" passion. I find value and feel rejuvenated through maintaining an active leisure lifestyle and enjoy trying new forms of activity, outdoors as much as possible. The expressive and creative arts are equally stimulating in other ways. Both personal and professional life experiences and learning have consistently reinforced that life balance and healthy play is essential to our health and wellness!
